Featured question: “Why did Jesus heal?”
Answer: Compassion. See section 4 of the DHT manual.
Compassion is more than feeling someone else’s pain; it is about the action to address it and alleviate it. It is actively involved to end the situation that creates the pain and suffering. It is much more than just feelings.
Matthew 9:35-10:1—it is part of Jesus’s nature that He was moved by compassion, which is mentioned 14-15 times in the New Testament. The Holy Spirit wants to see people healed and restored more than we do.
Jesus gave His disciples the same power so that they could do exactly what He did.
1 John 3:8— “…destroy the work of the devil.” Destroy: grind to power.
WRONG reason people came up with for why Jesus healed: To prove He was God.
In fact, He did not need to do that. He came to bring the Kingdom and advance the Kingdom on the earth.
Matthew 14:14—the multitude was healed because of compassion.
Matthew 20:29-34—Jesus had compassion on the two blind men and opened their eyes. Jesus was a High Priest whom can be touched. He expects us to operate in the same compassion.
Mark 1:40-42—Jesus went into action before speaking. He wanted the leper to feel the touch of a human hand and said “I will and always will be willing.” Compassion will drive us to stretch ourselves to do things for God and in God that we may have thought we could not do. Compassion is a form of love, a part of God’s characters.
Mark 5:18-19—demons were driven out because of His compassion. This is why we become CDHTs. This compassion is within us.
Compassion does not necessarily have any feelings associated with it.
The more we let the compassion flow, it will flow more and more.
Love in deed and truth! Minister the way Jesus did.
