Featured question: “If a sick person does not get healed, how long should you pray in tongues to make it happen?”
Answer: Tongues will NOT make it happen. Jesus had made healing happen. Having faith in the finished work of Jesus makes it happen. We were already healed when Jesus was whipped on the whipping post.
That’s why Mark 16:18 says “the sick shall
recover, ” not “shall be healed.” None of our work can make it happen; we just need to enforce the victory won by Jesus. See Sections 5-8, 12, 13, 15 & 17 of the DHT manual.
Our faith is in Christ and what He has accomplished; Our faith is not in our own faith.
There is nothing we can do go get this (healing) to happen.
The Bible is not a book of formulas; it is a book of principles and ways of living for the sons of God.
1 Cor 14:4—Speaking in tongues edifies one’s self. We should be praying in tongues.
When we pray in tongues, we are building ourselves up in the holy faith and stirring ourselves up.
Mark 16:17-18—“…these signs”—signs are for the non-believers, not for the
believers; signs “follow” after us, the believers. These signs will follow those who believe the Gospel preached by the Disciples. Here Jesus did NOT say “believers are
going to speak in tongues and the sick shall recover.”
The message is sacred; the methods are not.
Tongues could be used to heal the sick, but Jesus did not link praying in tongues with healing the sick. Instead, He said “laying hands.”
Matthew 17:16-20—The disciples were already healing the sick and casting out demons when this event took place; however, they failed and Jesus rebuked them
for their unbelief, NOT their not speaking in tongues. The main thing Jesus told them to have was “faith” (as a mustard seed).
“Little faith” refers to its (poor) quality, not quantity.
Acts 1:8—Jesus did not say the disciples will receive “tongues” when the Holy Spirit has come upon them; Jesus said “power”—miraculous ability.
Mark 11:22-24—Jesus did not even bother checking the fig tree after He spoke its destiny to it; Peter had to get His attention for the fig tree. Faith is trusting God
with everything.
Jesus emphasized that it is having faith in God that produces results.
John G. Lake said praying in tongues was the making of his ministry.
Luke 17:6—“faith as a mustard seed…”When we pray in tongues, we better pray in tongues in faith. We better do everything in faith.
When we believe it is a done deal (and have already received), we will talk in a way as if it is already done. We will say it in past tense. We have to speak like it is already
finished. Faith is what moves the mountain.

Q1: During the June 13-15 Dominion Seminar with Curry Blake in Frankfurt, Germany, I learned that my sister-in-law in Mokopane, South Africa is suffering from Vascular Dementia. I filled out a prayer request for her at the seminar. I also prayed for her on the phone and demanded the illness and spirit of infirmity to leave her body. Last week she was submitted to a care unit at an old age home
because she lost her ability to talk in an understandable way, and when my brother didn’t understand, she got very mad at him. Her situation has worsened severely.
My question is: How long should I carry on demanding the sickness to leave her, or should I just believe that she is recovering and wait for total recovery? What should I do?
A: 1) when you minister to somebody and the symptoms worsen at first, that means
the entity causing the sickness is ready to leave. They want to trash the place (the person) before they have to leave. This can be a good thing (i.e., the worsening).
Hit it with more force. Command healing again. When we speak, we speak with the
authority of Christ on His behalf. Minister to that person again.
2) If you believe it is done, you talk like it is done.
Q2: Did God command us to heal the sick? Jesus told his disciples to cast out, heal the sick and preach the kingdom of heaven. These signs will follow those who believe.
A: Absolutely He did. It is a command, not a suggestion. In the Kingdom of God, there is no such a thing called “a job fair.” We do not get to pick and choose which
word we are obedient to. We are to be doers of the written word of God.
Healing the sick is a way to preach the Gospel. Healing is the dinner bell of the Gospel. This shows people the love of God and how caring He is.
Q3: In Pentecostalism they teach one is not saved if they don't speak in tongues. Is that true? If it's not true how should an individual respond to one that believes it true.
A: No. Every -ism is a religion. Speaking in tongues is just the beginning, not the
epitome. Faith is the evidence that we are born again, not tongues.
The baptism of the Holy Spirt is that we have God in us and He overflows from us and surrounds us.
Q4: Can we move the gifts of the Holy Spirit at will?
A: Yes. Here “gifts” are ways the Holy Spirit manifests Himself. If we are fully mature
manifested sons of God, these manifestations flow as we move. When we walk in what He has given us and witness for Him, these manifestations will come out.
