JGLM DHT Q&A call_July 24 2025 (有中文翻譯)

Featured question: “Are there some demons that will not come out without prayers and fasting?”

Answer: No. See sections 4&19 of the DHT manual.

Common sense: Demons do not care whether we are hungry or not. We are not going to affect the demons by either eating or not eating. In fact, demons are into afflictions. They would rather see us suffering to death.

We cannot manipulate God by fasting. God has given us the authority to cast demons out.

Fasting can only change us.

Those who live in the western world tend to eat too much. For them, there are benefits in fasting.

See https://www.wiebefamily.org/fasting.htm for more information on fasting.

Demons can be indirectly influenced by fasting. The reason: Fasting helps us crucify our flesh, which in turns help us focus on the word of God, release our faith, and walk in authority.

We have the Holy Spirit in us, so Jesus is with us all the time.

Matthew 17:19-21—“…because of your unbelief…” v.21—“this kind” refers to “this kind of unbelief,” not any demons. In any case, Jesus did not “fast” the demon out of the boy. Jesus just kicked the demon out by His command.

Jesus is more concerned about the Word of God than the food.

Matthew 9:14-15 & Mark 2:18-20—Obviously Jesus did not tell His disciples to fast when confronted by the disciples of John the Baptist. Jesus’s disciples would be fasting from the bridegroom (Jesus, the bread of life), not food, after He was taken away.

Isaiah 58:1-14—Fasting does not and cannot manipulate God. It does not make us more spiritual in and of itself.

Note: A: Matthew 19:21. “Unbelief” should be better translated as “sparse belief.” Many manuscripts do not contain this verse.

Q1: In Pentecostalism they teach one is not saved if they don't speak in tongues. Is that true? If it's not true how should an individual respond to one that believes it true.

A: The Bible never says anything like this. Apostles and other believers in Acts ch.1 were already saved, but they had not spoken in tongues yet. The Bible only says we receive power when we receive the Holy Spirit. It does not mention tongues and any connections between speaking in tongues and salvation.

It is the blood of Jesus that gets us saved (from the wrath of God). The blood pays for sin.

Don’t create a doctrine out of just one verse! (people use Mark 16 to establish this doctrine of speaking in tongues being requirements for being saved).

JGLM DHT
