Answer: No. See section 6 of the DHT manual.
This is a very common sacred cow. Ironically, it is more difficult to convince believers with God’s love manifested in healing than unbelievers.
God is always our loving helper, not the mean punisher churchianity tries to depict to use.
2 Cor 12:7—thorn in the flesh. It is always about adversary or resistance, something always trying to stop you. See Numbers 33:55 and Joshua 23:13.
(Note: God did not cause Canaanites to become thorns to the Israelis; He warned the Israelis what the Canaanites would do to them).
It was God who brought Paul up to the Heaven and gave him all the great revelations. It is illogical to think that it was God who put the thorn in Paul’s flesh.
Again, God is not a mean punisher who smashes us for nothing.
2 Cor 12:7 clearly states the thorn given to Paul was a messenger of Satan, which cannot be from God as this would be out of character for God.
In Job, Satan tried to deceive God into attacking Job, but God chose to restrict Satan on how much he could do to Job. God is always beside and behind His righteous people.
2 Cor 12:5-10—Paul talked about nothing but his “astheneia”—it means “without strength,” weakness or infirmity. It does not mean sickness or diseases. If we look at Paul’s journey, we can understand that Paul’s “astheneia” is not sickness; otherwise, Paul would not be able to travel long-distance. Paul was probably physically strong.
Here “astheneia” is probably the sufferings Paul had to go through (beating, imprisonment, shipwreck, robbery, etc.). Paul went through a lot of physical abuse.
“Thorn in the flesh”—In a biblical sense, the phrase “in the flesh” is hardly literal
(i.e., it is not in the physical body).
Note: Paul did not have eye diseases nor poor eyesight. The word translated as “large” in Galatians 5 actually means “grand,” “great,” “significant.” Its meaning has nothing to do with size. The same word is also used in the Epistle of Hebrews to describe to statue of Melchizedek, the high priest.

Q1: What key points should we include in replying to an individual who has a prayer request?
A: Follow Jesus’s examples by meeting their needs and setting them free. Bring up the faith in the person. Don’t leave the person to struggle; help him/her settle in the truth. Help them recognize there is no difference between you and them if they also have Christ in them. It is important to teach them how to do warfare themselves.
Q2: Without permission from the family, is it dangerous to raise somebody from the dead?
A: Jesus did not ask for permission from anybody before raising the dead. DHTs are supposed to be first responders. We do not think before getting into action.
Q3: How can we explain divine healing to ministers who are sick yet resistant to the truth of healing?
A: Any sickness and death are a tragedy. Have compassion for them. It is a shame that so many ministers have become Pharisees when it comes to healing. They adopt a technique called “cognitive dissidence” so as to comfort themselves. We just need to demonstrate the truth to them.
We don’t want to judge them because they are not our servants. Our experiences must be judged by the scriptures. We know the truth, so we go about and do the word of God. Pray for them in your prayer closet. Don’t’ help the devil bring condemnation to those ministers.
Don’t always look for an example; become one!
