v.27&29: “in an unworthy manner”

v.27: the word translated as “guilty” should be better translated as “liability,” meaning responsibility for the consequences of their attitudes and resulting actions.

That is nothing more than common sense.

V.32: “chastised”—the word is not “condemned.” Instead, it is used in the context of child training. So “being chastened” is nothing more than “being trained.”

Note the context: The problem addressed in the beginning of 1 Cor 11. What the Corinthians did wrong was eating and drinking “un-worthwhile-ly”—without valuing The requirement for having the Lord’s supper: valuing the body and the blood of Christ. Body: paid for affliction; blood: paid for sins.

The reason Corinthians getting weak and sick: They did not recognize Jesus’s body being brutalized for our affliction. Their choice opened themselves up to sickness and diseases.

v.29—“discriminating the body.” The word translated as “discriminate” means “make a right judgement.”

v.32—“chastise”—Here it means God may do things to get His children back in line.

It does not mean God will do things to make us sick or kill us.
